Farmers Insurance: The Quarter's Largest Climb
Farmers Insurance posted the single largest rank gain of any brand in Brainpan's Q2-to-Q3 comparison — a 38-position jump built on a near-doubling of its mention volume. This teardown covers the visibility move itself: what grew, by how much, and what a one-quarter measurement can and can't tell us.
Ninety-three to fifty-five — the largest gain in the study
Farmers Insurance ranked 93rd in Brainpan's Q2 2026 continuity universe. In the Q3 comparison — restricted to entities with at least 10 mentions in both quarters, to keep single-quarter rank changes from being dominated by noise — Farmers finishes 55th. That's a climb of 38 positions, the largest of any brand measured this quarter, alongside a gain of 44 mentions and 14 citation credits.
| Entity | Q2 rank | Q3 rank | Rank change | Mention change | Citation change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Farmers Insurance | 93 | 55 | +38 | +44 | +14 |

What we measured, and what we did not
This teardown is a visibility-dimension analysis only — how often, how prominently, and how authoritatively Farmers Insurance was named in AI-generated answers to insurance-shopping prompts. Brainpan also scores Sentiment and Accuracy this quarter, but neither dimension is reported here, named to a specific brand, in any public-facing document; that level of detail is reserved for Brainpan's private brand diagnostic, shared with a brand privately. Nothing on this page should be read as a statement about Farmers' sentiment, claims accuracy, or customer experience.
This is also a sample, not a census: one quarter, 300 prompts, six AI surfaces. Treat a single quarter's rank movement as directional until a second comparison cycle confirms it.
A separate snapshot: what the Q3 numbers look like directly
The rank comparison above measures change. A separate, independently-sourced measurement from the same Q3 corpus gives a direct snapshot of Farmers' current standing, rather than its movement:
Strong and moderate recommendations together account for 10 of Farmers' 37 mentions in this view — roughly one in four. Farmers also appears in the top three results of a response 8 times in this same measurement. These figures come from a different data cut than the rank-comparison table in Section 1 and use a different denominator, so they shouldn't be algebraically combined with the +44/+14 deltas above — each table should be read on its own terms, the same discipline Brainpan applies across every entity in this study.
A national carrier moving up from the back half
Farmers is a top-twenty national carrier by almost any conventional measure — a different starting context than a regional carrier climbing into the conversation for the first time. A brand of Farmers' scale ranking 93rd in Q2, below more than sixty other entities in the study's continuity universe, says less about brand recognition generally and more about how Brainpan's specific prompt set and AI-engine sample happened to surface it that quarter. The climb to 55th narrows, but doesn't close, that gap to where a brand of Farmers' scale might be expected to land.
That framing matters for reading the number correctly: a 38-rank gain from the back half of a 226-brand universe is a meaningfully different story than the same rank gain would be for a brand already near the top. Both are real, measured the same way — but they warrant different follow-up questions.
Strategic diagnostic priorities
What this teardown can tell a carrier in Farmers' position to go look at — not conclusions, starting points for a diagnostic.
- Confirm the move is structural, not a single-quarter artifact. The largest gain in the study is also the one most worth re-checking next quarter — a 38-rank jump from a low base deserves a second data point before anyone treats it as a trend.
- Convert mentions into recommendations. In the Q3 snapshot, strong and moderate recommendations together account for about one in four of Farmers' mentions. For a brand climbing this fast on raw visibility, the next lever is usually recommendation strength, not mention count.
- Check which surfaces are driving the gain. This teardown reports the aggregate Q2-to-Q3 movement; it doesn't break out which of the six measured surfaces is responsible for most of the change. That's a natural next diagnostic question.
- Benchmark against directly comparable carriers. Farmers' climb is easiest to interpret against carriers of similar scale and distribution model, not against the study's overall top ten.
Data, method, and corrections
- Primary source
- Brainpan's Insurance AIVI™ Q3 2026 Benchmark: 226 entities (of 229 tracked brand candidates; 226 met the bar for canonical resolution with scoreable Q3 data), 300 stratified prompts, 1,800 responses, six AI surfaces. Farmers-specific figures come from two distinct, independently-sourced views within that dataset: the official Q2-to-Q3 rank comparison (Section 1), and a separate Q3 snapshot measurement (Section 3). These two views use different denominators and are not arithmetically combined.
- Scope
- Public model outputs only. No advertising data, analytics access, or carrier-internal reporting. This page covers visibility only — not Sentiment or Accuracy, which Brainpan scores separately and does not publish named to a specific brand.
- Independence
- Farmers Insurance was not contacted, did not participate, and did not review this page before publication.
- Attribution
- Organic-only, first-mention attribution. Sponsored placements are excluded from all scoring.
- Sample limits
- A sample, not a census — one quarter, 300 prompts, 1,800 responses across the full study. Treat quarter-over-quarter movement as directional until a second comparison cycle confirms it.
- Corrections
- Submit corrections to kwalsh@brainpan.ai. Acknowledged within two business days, resolved within ten, applied as a dated correction note.
